Walibi Holland

Walibi Holland is an amusement park in Biddinghuizen. The park opened in 1971 under the name Flevohof. Today it is one of the larger amusement parks in the Netherlands, and is part of parent company Compagnie des Alpes. It welcomed 900,000 visitors in 2015. Walibi offers its visitors a total of 35 attractions in a beautiful setting.

Why did you choose EIZO?

We were first put in touch with EIZO by our solution provider and camera supplier Panasonic.

We use cameras for almost all our attractions to ensure good surveillance and to allow our employees to quickly take action if necessary. The video images of the attractions are usually displayed on-site via a VMS system. For this, standard computer monitors are used which, in their turn, are connected to a PC. Displaying video images on a monitor thus requires a fair number of components.

The EIZO IP Decoder Monitor enables us to display IP video images directly on this monitor in a very quick and effective manner, without the use of a PC. Moreover, installation is much faster and easier and the images displayed are far sharper and more natural than on the monitors used previously.

What specific requirements did monitors have to meet?

The monitors we use for camera surveillance must operate 24/7. User-friendliness is the priority. Furthermore, the image must be of good quality, given that the operator watches the camera surveillance images 10 hours a day.

What problems have the monitors solved?

Previously, we needed a lot of servers in order to gather the camera images and display them on a monitor. Now it is simply a matter of plug and play. Put the network plug into the monitor, configure, and the system is operational.

Have several brands been tested? If yes, which are the reference specifications?

No other brands have been tested. No other screen is available that can support both functions. EIZO is the only manufacturer able to provide us with this solution.

To what extent did the warranty play a role in the selection process?

The warranty is definitely very important. When such a durable monitor no longer functions it has to be replaced quickly.

What are the benefits from using EIZO products?

This FDF2304W-IP Decoder Monitor solution provides us with huge flexibility when displaying the various IP video images. Installation is very quick and saves us a lot of time. Moreover, the images are very sharp and displayed in realistic colors, which provides the operator with a clear image. This is very important when monitoring an attraction.

Marinequip Finds What It Was Looking for in EIZO Marine-certified Monitor Solutions of up to 46 Inches

Marinequip relies entirely on EIZO for marine-certified monitor solutions of up to 46 inches for use on ship bridges. This is because the Japanese monitor manufacturer offers a whole range of products (the FDS1904W, FDU2603W, and DV4624 models) with the corresponding certificates (IEC 61174, IEC 62288, and IEC 62388) and also fulfills all of the Norwegian company’s expectations for a reliable partner.

When asked why he decided on EIZO, Trond Johansen, Sales Manager at Marinequip, responded: “EIZO is a well-known brand that represents excellent quality, proven service, and the best possible technical support.”

Marinequip integrated both 26- and 46-inch EIZO models into its matrix solution for a customer from the fishing and aquaculture industry. Six of the monitors assembled on the bridge for this solution are used for navigation, ECDIS, radar, ship PC, automation, and CCTV system applications. An additional monitor is also used in the engine control room for CCTV applications.

Luuk Vroombout, CEO Alphatron

Alphatron CEO Luuk Vroombout is an entrepreneur with pioneering vision. It was his idea to equip the Alphatron AlphaBridge with the largest possible monitor to provide navigation officers with the very best working conditions. This resulted in the AlphaPremiumBridge concept with a 46-inch full HD monitor solution.

Several factors played a role in the decision-making process. The two companies have a close business relationship in both the Netherlands and Japan that goes back over several years. As a result, Alphatron Marine BV has been using over 4,000 EIZO 19-inch monitors since 2006 for radar applications. EIZO in Japan has already successfully developed a 26-inch ECDIS monitor in line with individual requirements for Japan Radio Co., Ltd. (JRC), a Japanese partner firm of Alphatron.

What’s more, EIZO took on the major challenge of working with Alphatron to realize Luuk Vroombout’s vision and develop new 46-inch monitor for shipping, specifically designed for the AlphaPremiumBridge concept. Alphatron also considered other well-known manufacturers, but these companies turned down the company’s request at the outset.

Alphatron did indeed have very high requirements for the desired monitor. In addition to top product and image quality, Alphatron required certification according to IEC 60945, versatile connection options and a flexible power supply. Alphatron also wanted the ability to remotely configure and adjust the monitor’s brightness via the bridge. The EIZO development team in Germany managed to successfully fulfill all of these requirements for the new monitor.

When asked what he valued most when working on the AlphaPremiumBridge concept with EIZO, Bas Eerden, Marketing and Product Development Manager for Alphatron Marine BV, said: “The direct communication and the quick reaction times, as well as EIZO’s proactive approach to the development work.” He added, “This is in addition to the short time frame of just one year in which we were able to work with EIZO to implement the concept to our utmost satisfaction.”

The First Patrol Boats with Visionary AlphaBridge Systems Featuring EIZO 46-inch Monitors Have Set Sail

Alphatron supplied a renowned Dutch shipyard with the first AlphaBridge systems to each feature three integrated 46-inch EIZO DuraVision DV4624 monitors in the fall of 2015. These systems were installed in four patrol boats that are now making their rounds in the waters off the northern coast of South America.

Patrol boat officers need to be able to correctly detect potential hazards in order to be able to quickly react to emergency situations. Powerful and reliable navigation and monitoring equipment is indispensable to this task. ASEAG Traffic Control Center Relies on EIZO FDF2303W

ASEAG, Aachener Straßenbahn und Energieversorgungs-AG, has been the mobility services provider for the German city of Aachen and the surrounding region for more than 130 years. The company has therefore played a crucial role in shaping the city of Aachen and has always pursued its objective of organizing and improving public transport for people in the region.

All of the key information on the current timetable and important emergency messages converge in the ASEAG’s traffic control data center. As a result, the control center dispatcher on duty is always able to quickly implement suitable measures in the event of service disruptions and emergencies.

“The control center system that we have implemented (ITCS = Intermodal Transport Control System) is an extremely important element of the infrastructure at ASEAG. For this reason, we use the appropriate reliable hardware for visualizing information, as well as for the network infrastructure and PC and server systems required for operation,” explains qualified engineer Frank Standke, Head of IT at ASEAG.

ASEAG has been using EIZO monitors in various areas of the business such as administration, workshops, and marketing for many years. “We have only ever had positive experiences with EIZO, which is why we also decided to install the monitors in the control center. The factors of reliability, image quality, service, and price-performance ratio played a crucial role in the decision-making process,” emphasizes Frank Standke.

ASEAG set up two identically equipped dispatch work stations each with seven FDF2303W monitors in the fall of 2013. At least one of the two work stations is manned during operating periods. “The previously installed monitors were normal office monitors. As they were in use all day long, disruptions or total system failures occurred now and then,” says Frank Standke, explaining the problems that often occur when using monitors that have not been designed for constant operation throughout the day. In contrast, the FDF2303W model from EIZO has been specially designed for 24/7 use in security and monitoring applications. Its unique image quality and reliability therefore makes it perfect for control centers.

As a result, the FDF2303W monitors allow ASEAG to keep everything in sight for a good journey at all times.

Port of Antwerp

The port of Antwerp is one of the biggest in the world, situated on the river Scheldt. Thanks to its location it offers direct access to the rest of Europe over roads, rail and canals which lowers the transportation costs considerably compared to other ports. With its 12,000 hectares, it is one of the largest ports in the world.

Almost 60% of Europe’s buying power is situated in a range of hardly 500 kilometres from the port of Antwerp. More than 60,000 people are employed in the different sites which makes the port of Antwerp one of the most important pillars of Belgium’s economy. Currently it has 8 locks in operation, leading to 48 docks. Most ships coming from the sea, or ships going from the port to the sea, need to pass these locks in order to overcome the differences in water depth on the river.

The new control room is composed of 2 dual setups of 10 monitors each, and one of 16 monitors.

The highly complex logistical network of the harbour is laid out on several monitors that visualize high resolution IP cameras, maps, and flowcharts. In their search to find monitors that could cope with all the requirements, EIZO stood out. The multi-functional EV3237 proved to be capable of showing all sorts of images in very precise way, as well as offer unequalled reliability.
